Well it is finally here the long-awaited WordPress 3.2 update! I am pleasantly surprised at all the new features. Of course I went right to work and installed 3.2 (after I backed up the content – you never know!). I also installed the Twenty Eleven theme – so poke around the site and see what you think of the theme.
OK, let’s get on with some of the features.
The Editor
- The Kitchen Sink is still and there and all the usual features you know and love in the Visual Editor. However, there are a few changes with the HTML editor. Fullscreen and Proofread have been added.
- Fullscreen allows you to view you post all on its own without the distractions of WP menus on the left and formatting on the right. To go back to the standard view hit the ESC key.
- Proofread is basically a spell and grammar checker you would find in Word.A welcomed friend for me
Appearance
Themes, Widgets, Menus, Background are unchanged. Theme Options and Header have been tweaked slightly for the positive.
- Header
I can’t count how many times I needed to manually remove the blog title and description along with the white space or margin at the top of the site by going into header.php and fooling around with the style.css. Now that’s all done by a click of the button.
- Theme Options
The Twenty Eleven theme gives you a dark color (black on black) or a white color (white on gray) color scheme. Another added feature is link color which was usually changed with the css. Lastly you can set your default layout – sidebar on left, right, or no sidebar.
That’s all I’ve discovered so far. How about you? Have you installed WP 3.2 and the Twenty Eleven theme? What your likes and dislikes?
Happy Blogging!
