Twitter is a great social media network where you can connect with folks you don’t know from Adam, and yet you can chat about subjects that you are passionate about. For me that’s social media, internet marketing and the security industry.
Often times Twitter is misunderstood and has received this bad rap that it nothing more than teenage diatribes on what they ate for lunch. Well, there are those types of tweets but they are in the minority if you are plagued with these tweets in your timeline you are just not following the right people.

I put together a very simple list that I call My Twitter Commandments. These are the rules I follow when I tweet and I expect the same in return.
Thou Shalt Not Spam.
Thou Shalt Not repeat the same tweet over and over again.
Thou Shalt Not join Twitter if you are not going to Tweet.
Thou Shalt Not sell ClickBank, Amazon or Ebay.
Thou Shalt Not retweet everyone of your followers to somehow boost your Klout or Peer Index. It won’t work.
Thou Shalt Not type in all caps all the time. Typing in caps means your yelling in text-speak.
Thou Shalt Not mix too much personal tweets with business tweets.
Thou Shalt complete your profile to include a brief summary about you or your business.
Thou Shalt change from the default egg profile picture to one of your own.
Thou Shalt interact with other tweeps
Thou Shalt make connections across the globe
Thou Shalt share original content
Thou Shalt ask questions of your followers and the Twitter community
Thou Shalt be yourself
Thou Shalt look for followers that will help your business grow
Thou Shalt be focused on business goals and social media strategy
Thou Shalt use searches and lists to follow your brand and your competitors
